New Training Centre for Commissionaires Nova Scotia Opens in Burnside
Halifax, July 16 – Commissionaires Nova Scotia will officially open a modern 10-room training centre in the Burnside Industrial Park July 18, 2008.
Colonel Murray Lee, CEO for the 1,600 member organization said “the centre has been in the planning and design phase since early this year and now that it is open for business our training staff will be able to provide a wide range of programs and services.”
“This spacious location will allow us to better service the Atlantic Region by hosting “in house” training courses rather than contracting out facilities as has been the case in the past,” explained Col Lee.
“We plan to make the hundreds of businesses located in the region’s largest industrial park even more aware of our evolving services we provide which includes security solutions, identification services, enforcement, as well as training,” continued Col Lee. “ With the impending legislation requiring all security guards in the province to be licensed, this facility will provide the Corps with the means to train to the latest Canadian General Standards Board curriculum.”
Located at 900 Windmill Road, the centre contains two new classrooms, two syndicate rooms, computer labs, six offices and a reception area. The classroom settings are able to accommodate up to 30 individuals per session. The classrooms and syndicate rooms are all equipped with the latest technological equipment necessary for presentations and professional development sessions. The office will initially be staffed by four highly qualified and certified Commissionaires.
Formed in 1937, Commissionaires Nova Scotia is staffed primarily by former members of the military and RCMP/police forces who are employed at more than 200 work sites across the province.
