Lieutenant-Colonel Morris W. Brause (Ret’d), CD2

Lieutenant-Colonel Morris Brause was appointed Chief Executive Officer of Commissionaires Windsor on 1st February 2010. He is a veteran of the Canadian Forces (CF), with a military career that exemplifies a commitment to regular, progressive training, numerous deployments and missions across Canada and overseas, and a 36-year record of loyal and dedicated service.
Morris joined the Canadian Forces in 1974 and attended Royal Roads Military College in Victoria for his first two years of University and then finished his degree in Honours History at the Royal Military College in Kingston, Ontario. In 1978, he commenced his infantry career on his first regimental tour with 2 Princess Patricia Canadian Light Infantry (2 PPCLI) in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Over his career, he served in all three battalions of the PPCLI and enjoyed platoon commanding; commanded Pioneers, Mortars and Recce; and finished off his tours in the battalions as a Company Commander. An experienced field soldier who enjoyed training soldiers, he was posted in 2001 to the Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry Battle School where he commanded the Recruit Company, Leadership Company and finished this tour as the Chief Instructor. He was then posted to Edmonton to become the Regimental Major for the PPCLI.
Upon his return from Iraq in September 2001, Morris was appointed the Commanding Officer for Canadian Forces Recruiting Centre Hamilton, handling all recruiting for Southwestern Ontario, and held that position until May 2004. Morris finished off his career in the Regular Force at Land Forces Central Headquarters as the Chief Plans Officer dealing with long-range planning and training for the Army Units in Ontario. He then transferred to the Primary Reserve and joined The Essex and Kent Scottish Regiment in Windsor. He was hired by Commander LFCA HQ to plan and execute training for the Joint Task Force headquarters going into Afghanistan. As the Commanding Officer of his regiment and the Garrison Commander for Windsor Garrison, Morris continues to train infantry soldiers in preparation for overseas operations.
Morris has a wealth of overseas experience based on three operational tours: North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) duties as the G3 Operations for the Canadian Mechanized Brigade Group Headquarters, and two United Nations tours where Morris served as Combat Team Commander of 400 soldiers in the UNPROFOR CANBAT II mission to Croatia, and as Chief of Operations on the UNIKOM mission in Iraq from 2000–2001.
Morris holds an Honours History degree from Royal Military College (RMC) in Kingston, Ontario (1978), transferring after two full years of studies at Royal Roads Military College in Victoria. As well, he is a graduate of the Land Staff Officer Professional Development Program and the Land Command Staff College in Kingston. He has completed special certification courses to operate as a Combat Team Commander and Senior Nuclear Biological and Chemical Officer. Additionally, Morris has taken French language training and has completed part of his MBA program through RMC.
