Commissionaires Great Lakes Launches New Investigations Unit
Businesses have new option for due diligence, litigation support, and more
Toronto, December 8, 2010 – Commissionaires Great Lakes (CGL) today announced the launch of its new Investigations Unit to offer clients investigative services in the areas of due diligence, litigation support, fraud investigations, and intellectual property. The Special Investigations Unit will be led by Tom O’Carroll, a seasoned security professional.
“We are offering this new service in response to client demand,” commented Jim Watts, CEO of Commissionaires Great Lakes. “The Investigations Unit is a logical extension of the full range of security services we already provide, and is the obvious next step in our growth.”
Specifically, the CGL Investigations Unit will provide comprehensive services in a range of areas, including:
Due Diligence: Businesses want to ensure that new employees, contractors, suppliers, strategic alliances, joint venture partners, international representatives, do not put their organization at risk. Commissionaires with its global partners can conduct discreet and thorough research to ascertain and confirm qualifications, achievements and financial stability of both individuals and corporations.
Litigation Support: This service involves research, surveillance, interviews and financial research and analysis. Written statements, detailed reports and visual displays can then be produced for use in determining strategy, pre-trial examinations, negotiations and court presentation.
Fraud Investigations: When fraud is suspected, Commissionaires can conduct internal or external investigations to confirm that fraud has occurred and if necessary determine responsibility, liaise with legal counsel and/or present and liaise law enforcement.
Intellectual Property: Counterfeiting commercial products is a massive global problem. Commissionaires can assist businesses in reducing losses by introducing internal anti-counterfeiting programs, monitoring illegal internet activity, identifying those involved in counterfeit activity and conducting target based investigations. We can also report to legal counsel and/or present, assist and liaise with law enforcement.
We’re excited to be up and running, offering advanced investigation services to our clients,” observed Tom O’Carroll, the Director of Investigations. “With police services increasingly overburdened, the time is right and gives businesses a responsive and cost-effective option to consider.”
Tom O’Carroll brings over 30 years of security expertise to his new role as Director of Investigations, Commissionaires Great Lakes. After eleven years in the London Metropolitan Police Force in England, culminating in his role as a detective, he came to Canada to become Director of Investigations for one of the world’s largest security and investigation firms and then went on to run his own agency. Prior to joining Commissionaires Great Lakes, Mr. O’Carroll spent three years as Investigations Manager for Microsoft Canada, where he continued to gain valuable insights and experience.
