February 4, 2010, Toronto, ON – Protecting property, and preventing vandalism, break-ins and theft, together represent the top security concern of GTA businesses that have security personnel, according to a comprehensive survey conducted by The Strategic Counsel on behalf of Commissionaires Great Lakes, a leading security organization. Rounding out the top three security concerns are preventing unauthorized access, and protecting people, respectively.

February 2, 2010, Ottawa, ON – In the face of unprecedented demand for security services triggered by the 2010 games, more than 350 commissionaires are answering the call to support the largest security operation in Canadian history. Nearly 60 employees of Commissionaires, a leading provider of security services, travelled to British Columbia from more than 40 different communities across the country, including Summerside, PEI, Yorkton, Saskatchewan, Glace Bay, Nova Scotia, Melocheville, Québec, Haneytown, New Brunswick, London, Ontario, and Medicine Hat, Alberta. Under contract to the Department of National Defence, the visiting commissionaires are securing the compounds housing the Olympic security forces. The contract began last summer and commissionaires have been on duty for the last four months and will continue until after the games. They are living on-site.

Survey Reveals need for Second Careers after Life in the Canadian Forces

Canadians wrongly believe that most veterans retire with pensions

November 5, 2009, Ottawa, ON – Canadians overestimate how long the average veteran serves in the Canadian Forces (CF) and how many of them retire with pensions, according to a Nanos Research survey released today by Commissionaires in time for Remembrance Day. In reality, only about 30 percent of veterans have earned pensions when they retire from the Canadian Forces. A strong majority of those surveyed believe that at least half of veterans retire with pensions, and more than 28 percent of Canadians believe that all veterans do.
