Digital Fingerprinting Technology Now Here in the North

Northerners can access quicker and more convenient fingerprinting and ID services

October 28, 2009, Sudbury, ON – New state-of-the-art digital fingerprinting technology is being introduced to Northern Ontario by a private security company, Commissionaires Ottawa. The advanced fingerprinting service is now available throughout the north through Commissionaires’ mobile units or directly at the company’s new Sudbury office.

Paul Guindon, Commissionaires Ottawa CEO, explains that northern businesses and residents will now have access to quicker, more convenient fingerprint and ID services. “With this technology, we can reduce service turn-around times from several weeks to a few days. From North Bay to Kenora to Moosonee and everywhere in between, a person can obtain ink and roll prints from their local police station, courier these to our Sudbury office, and our experts will convert the prints to an electronic package for the RCMP’s National Police Services Network.  We were among the first to be accredited by the RCMP to link securely and directly to their network.”

“This service will be most welcomed by businesses with special personnel needs, organizations wanting security checks, and people who need to obtain identification documents for personal reasons – such as visas, foreign travel, work permits, immigration and citizenship, pardons, adoption and name changes.”

Mr. Guindon adds, “Our over 140 commissionaires who are currently supporting Northern Ontario communities will be getting the word out in the weeks to come about this enhanced service.”

The fingerprinting technology was demonstrated today for the Sudbury business community, special guests and interested public at its Official Opening and Welcome event held at the Rainbow Centre. Bert Kemp, Business Operations Manager (Northern Region) stated, “We want businesses, and municipal and local organizations, to know that there are better security solutions now available in the north.”

In addition to Commissionaires Ottawa’s digital fingerprinting technology and traditional guard services, the Sudbury office will be offering pardon application services, police clearance certificates (CPIC), background checks, Corporate Investigations and Threat Risk Assessments.  The office is open to service all of the north Monday-Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. – and the public can phone (705) 673-2005 to enquire about services.
