Guarding

Ports

The need for security at our sea ports, harbours and airports has never been greater. That's why many of Canada's airports and ports rely on Commissionaires.

Services provided by Commissionaires include:

  • Curbside commissionaires to:
    - ensure all commercial vehicles servicing arrival and departure zones are licenced and meet government standards;
    - control traffic flow into and out of arrival and departure areas;
    - enforce parking by-laws;
    - co-ordinate and dispatch taxis and limousines for passenger pick-up
    - arrange for chartered busing and specialized transportation for groups, dignitaries and special events (such as the Pope's visit to Toronto);
  • Manage security in high security areas ensuring they are clear, properly guarded and accessed by only those who have the proper credentials and clearance;
  • Manage wildlife animal control to ensure safe take off and landing of aircraft (airports);
  • Passenger screening and ground & air side security (airports).

Port authorities also trust Commissionaires to serve as extra eyes and ears in looking out for suspicious vehicles, visitors and packages and to react appropriately.
