How long does it take to complete an application?
The process of completing a criminal record check application takes approximately 10 minutes. Applications must be completed in the presence of our Commissionaires ID staff, at one of our offices, or at your location with our mobile service.
Can I complete the process on-line?
The biographical data can be completed on-line. Once submitted, it will automatically be placed in our database. You can then go to any Commissionaires location to have your ID verified. Your request will be submitted at that time to police.
How are results obtained and how long does it take?
The National Canadian Police Information Center can provide a fax or electronic copy of results to Commissionaires in as little as 48 hours after submission. Results can be obtained in person by the applicant by showing photo ID, or they can be received by fax or sent to a third party if this is pre-arranged. The original copy of the results will be available approximately one week after submission.
Can Commissionaires perform a Vulnerable Sector Check?
No. Vulnerable Sector Checks must originate with your local police detachment as a check must be made of any records at your local police department. Commissionaires can perform the digital fingerprinting when accompanied by a letter from your local police, if they do not have this capability.
Who needs a Vulnerable Sector Check?
Applicants working with the vulnerable sector including those working with children, the elderly and disabled require a Vulnerable Sector Check. If you are involved with the vulnerable sector and are seeking a criminal record check, please go to your local police detachment.
Will results list actual offense details?
Name and date of birth criminal record check results will show either ‘Approved’ or ‘Rejected’ and no details of offenses will be listed. A certified criminal record check conducted from fingerprints provides a summary list of all offences on record with the RCMP.
Is Commissionaires a government agency?
Commissionaires is not a government agency. Commissionaires is a not-for-profit organization employing former military and police as well as responsible citizens in rewarding careers.
