CEO, Commissionaires Victoria, the Islands and Yukon
Gary Paulson joined the Commissionaires Victoria, the Islands and Yukon (CVIY) as the Chief Executive Officer on the 15th of September, 2016. Prior to joining the Commissionaires, he was the Vice President Operations and Harbour Master at the Prince Rupert Port Authority.
Gary Paulson began his career with the Royal Canadian Navy (RCN) in 1984. Until his retirement at the rank of Captain (N) in 2004, Gary served in the RCN for over 29 years commanding Her Majesty’s Canadian Ships, Huron, Calgary and Algonquin. He was presented the Meritorious Service Medal award by the Governor General of Canada in recognition of his exceptional leadership and professionalism.
With over 32 years of proven leadership and expertise in the marine industry both as a sea-going Naval Officer and as a port executive, He was responsible for all commercial and marine port operations, marine project development planning, security and environmental stewardship for the Port of Prince Rupert. He successfully launched Prince Rupert Port Authority‘s Environmental Stewardship program in partnership with Coast Tsimshian First Nations.
Gary Paulson holds an MBA from Royal Roads University where He specialized in Executive Management. He is a graduate of the Canadian Forces Command and Staff College in Toronto.
